Sakura-Cherry Blossoms

It was sakura weekend! All city spots lost their people against sakura spots. There were waves of people all looking up and sometimes bumped people in front of them ;)) Everybody in Japan cherishes this bless of spring.
Around our flats, there are promenades of cherry blossoms as you can see in the photo and at night all promenades are lit up and so beautiful!
I also saw in the news that along the Potomac River in Washington D.C., Cherry Blossoms Festival has just started this weekend. It was 1912, the mayer of Tokyo at that time send 3000 sakura trees to D.C. as a sign of US-Japan Friendship.
Back in Japan, people have some parties under sakura trees to celebrate that spring has arrived. In history, sakura trees were holy tree where Gods of mountain came to down to tell that spring was there. So people brought some sake and food to dedicate to the Gods. And people could have the rest of sake and food after the Gods. But today, we keep only drinking and eating part f tradition....well maybe better than nothing though...
